Holy crap, did the boyf and I need this night together. It was so necessary.

My son……wait……our son, is seven months old and we have had a total of TWO whole nights together. Woo. Hoo. More like…Boo. Hoo. By night together I mean a couple of hours drinking with friends. We haven’t actually had a proper date together.

Just Us Box is FANTAbulous, yes…as good as “fabulous” with a fanta in it! Who doesn’t love Fanta?!

This amazing box was made by two working mums who were struggling to find one-on-one time with their loved one. Don’t we all?

Every month you get a little box of love sent to your doorstep. The box contains everything you need for a wonderful, amazing, glorious date night either in your home or wherever you choose! Get off that Netflix Girl! My boyfriend and I chose our garden as we were sent the Star Gazing Date Night.

I absolutely love it because it reminds me to take one day, JUST ONE DAY, out of the month to spend some quality time with my loverrrrrr. Rawr. (hey, hey, hey the actual love happens more than once a month, we haven’t completely dried up ; ) ) I have to remind myself that one day out a month is nothing, that’s only 12 days our of the whole year! I need to plan more, this is my goal.

Anyway, the night was glorious. If this was an NFL post-game analysis….here are my highlights! Hollaaaaaaarrrrrr.

HELLO Challenge Cards!

The boyf and I played with the challenge cards that were in the box. For the “Love Challenges” I wrote down reasons why my lover is a star, “He loves deep cleaning the toilet!” ; ) For the “Laugh Challenges” my boyfriend had to draw out a constellation and name what it looks like, he did my boobs. We are super romantic.

The Passion Pouch

There is a little passion pouch in the star gazing box that had…..no not condoms!…..neon paint and lipstick to draw on each other.

We got a little carried away with selfies after we discovered the passion pouch….

Anyway, back to the neon bit. I had so much fun drawing on him (he didn’t allow me to take a photo though…and the images are not PG-13 so can’t post them on the blog), but here is what he drew on me!

sorry I look super creepy lol. Obviously everything is at night time.

The Telescope!

I was very pleasantly surprised when I found the telescope! It actually was quite efficient too. I could see everything. Even the old man sitting on the moon from the John Lewis ad.

Irish Whiskey

This was clutch (..apologies for the slang words, I’ve turned into a teenager again since my date night). Okay, they didn’t include whiskey in the pouch, however there was a very nice thermocafe that kept our “coffee” warm. We drank the hot chocolate before the date night…whoops! : )

There were so many great items in this lover box, I highlighted my faves, but if you’re interested here is a list of everything that was included!

  • Activities guide
    • How to guide on finding great star watching spots
    • Astronomical events to watch out for
    • Must see constellations
    • Recommend stargazing apps
  • A Date Pan
    • Fun suggestions of music and challenge cards!
    • Conversation starters (we especially liked, “who would you like to send to the moon…and leave there?!” we both agreed it was our son ; ) JOKES, I actually do love him)
  • Cute picnic blanket
  • A telescope!
  • A Star Jar – write a note and fill this jar to tell your love how lucky you are!
  • The passion pouch – we painted our faces neon green with hearts and penises (obvs)
  • The Kepler Telescope – this is awesome, you build your own telescope, another conversation starter for us
  • A flash light
  • Candles
  • Haribo sweets!
  • Galaxy hot chocolate for two
  • Thermocafe, a stainless steel vacuum insulated flask …for our “hot chocolate” aka Irish coffee

I would highly recommend this box. Not only has it brought us closer together but it’s more about an experience rather than just purchasing a product for your loved one. A watch is a watch, but a memory lasts forever.

The lovely Mums at Just Us Box gave me a discount code DATE10 which is valid until the end of this month. They have an amazing Indian Summer box (last orders 15th August) – and September’s Pillows & Poetry box.

  1. Ours arrived on Friday and we can’t wait for date night!! I had a quick nose through it and like you I was really impressed with the contents. Especially the telescope! It’s such a great idea and perfect for me and Mr C as we never really get date nights – boo hoo. All gonna change with the box though #KCACOLS

  2. It’s a great idea. I can’t say that we’ve been out much at all in the last 10 years! I think our last actual night out together was actually 4 years ago, sobs!! Sarah #FabFridayPost

  3. Haha! This idea sound fab! I would probably fight over my hubby over the Haribo sweets! lol! Looks like you had a great night. Thank you so much for linking up with us on #FabFridayPost x

  4. What a great idea and also to do something totally different, we would have done the same with the paint #stayclassymama

  5. Ahhh how lovely! Such a wonderful idea, keep enjoying, it is hard isn’t it, to make special time that isn’t errands, or with family. I also run a company with my husband so we need to be so careful the date night doesn’t turn into a business meeting! #stayclassyq

  6. We never have date nights so I really should get one of these – such a brilliant idea! Love all your pictures, you do make me chuckle. Neon paint and a telescope, what more could you need?! #StayClassyMama

  7. Even though I totally get how important it is to make time for each other once you become parents I find the whole idea of date nights a bit cringe. But this does look really fun and even romantic. Really funny review. #StayClassyMama

  8. Looks like a good laugh and reminds you to spend that bit of time together that you might normally forget or do another day and it keeps getting put off! #stayclassymama

  9. What a fab idea, and it all looks great! We very rarely have any time just the two of us, and when we do we are always too knackered to do anything other than snaffle down a take out and sleep!! We have a wedding this weekend though, a whole day and night without the kids (they were invited but obviously we said hell no!!), and I plan on making the most of it! Lots of food, drinking, dancing and maybe even a smooch or two with my husband. Cant wait! #stayclassymama

  10. Ah what a fab idea! Funny how date nights change post kids and it’s all about trying to make the most of them being in bed just to get some half decent time together! Thanks for hosting #stayclassymama

  11. Oh my goodness, this sounds amazing. I`ve been looking for an indepth review of this and yours is the first one I’ve seen that actually details whats in the box, it sounds great value…worth it for the picnic blanket, telescope and flask alone!!! Love the idea of this. Thanks for joining us at #SundayBest, hope to see you again this weekend! x

  12. I love the idea of the box plus it seems like loads for fun for couples to reconnect and spend time together away from their baby #stayclassymama

  13. Aw that sounds lovely!! I’m jealous weddings are so much fun, I hope you have a nice wee dance on the floor and a big smooth lol : )

  15. Haha! I think we’d probably get a bit carried away with the neon paint and forget about the other bits 😉 Might go out tomorrow for some actually… #youcantellwehaventhadadatenightforwaaytoolong Lucky you! xx #stayclassymama

  16. This is interesting! I have not heard of this before. I’m glad you guys had fun with it. The telescope looks like so much fun! I don’t know when was the last time I had a proper date with my hubby. I think I should so something about it. Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. 🙂 x

  17. This is definitely the #stayclassymama way to have date night! Is this US too, or just for you folks across the pond. Need a kit very badly for me and the Mrs. Any chance it comes with a sitter too? M’wah!

  18. Oh that’s a novel idea. Those photos made me LOL. I’m not sure I could persuade Mr TM to have a date night that didn’t involve a few drinkies in either a restaurant or public house of some variety. That being said, date night is date night if you’ve got a few hours to yourselves then who cares what you’re doing eh, just enjoy xx #stayclassy

  19. OMG I need this box in my life! So glad you finally managed to get some time together and had a good time. I can’t wait for my next date night. It just doesn’t happen enough #stayclassymama

  20. Yes there is one for the US, actually I think it started there : ). The sitter part would be looooovely!
