Hi dearest son that looks like a cute blue bear sprawled out on the bed right now,
I’m sorry it has been a while since I have written a letter. You are A LOT of work, but in a good way. : ) I love you more and more every single day. I’m going to be honest, it was very hard the first couple months (you are now 3 months old, or officially, 14 weeks), trying to recover and be a new Mom. I didn’t realise how difficult it was going to be, not because you are difficult, you are actually quite a good baby, but because becoming a Mom is a really big transition into a completely new world.
I literally feel like I am in a new world. My thoughts have changed, and I have new friends, and the old friends I used to hang out with (and still do) talk about the same thing but I feel differently about what they talk about.
You have changed my life for the better Hudson, and I will always love you for that. Not that I had a terrible life before you, it was actually pretty awesome; great friends, great job, great house, great boyfriend. But now that you are here, it is even MORE awesome. I love you so much.
This sounds silly, but I can’t wait to dance with you. I want to turn on the music really loud and just dance around the house with you…okay, and Daddy can join too.
I want to run into the ocean with you.
Ride bikes in the park with you.
Give you the biggest, squeeziest hug in the world.
Learn how to bake with you.
Water color with you.
And so much more! You are waking up now. I have to feed you, I love you so much. You mean the world to me.
Love love,

  1. Such a beautiful post, taking me back to when my little girl was younger…I wish I’d have jotted some of my feelings back then as it felt like a whirlwind for me too. It really resonated with me what you say about friends talking about the same things, but those things are now different as a new mum 🙂 Bridget x

  2. Thanks! I’ve been writing letters to him since June and decided to start posting them. I created a page for it on my blog called Dear Bear : ) it will motivate me to write to him more and get my feelings out!! Becoming a Mum is so tough, so strange how different it feels with your friends and your partner as well (but that’s a whole different story!).

  3. Hello my name is Emily and I just wanted to send you a quick note here instead of calling you. I came to your Dear Bear: Letter 10 -You Have Changed My Life for the Better – The Mum Project page and noticed you could have a lot more traffic. I have found that the key to running a popular website is making sure the visitors you are getting are interested in your website topic. There is a company that you can get keyword targeted traffic from and they let you try the service for free for 7 days. I managed to get over 300 targeted visitors to day to my website.
