Look at this little smiley face. How could you not smile back? It’s hard to say but I was not happy in this moment. I was tired, my boobs hurt, and my brain was fuzzy. The early days of parenting washed over me like a ginormous tidal wave. Unprepared and on waaaaaay too much coffee.

I love photography, it can portray something completely different to what is actually happening in the moment. Photos are in the eyes of the beholder… all that ; ).

But I also love the way that it kind make you feel something. Sometimes happy, sometimes whimsical, other times sad. It’s all grey.

Do you have a black and white photo that you love?

Share your story with us at The Mum Project. I’m starting a new guest series that is open to anyone and everyone who has ONE of the following:

  • A black and white photo with a story
  • A story that is metaphorically not black or white, it’s a grey area
  • Just a black and white photo (because let’s face it, most of us have very little time so if you just want to submit a photo I would love to share it with my community)

A few things before you get crackin’:

  1. You can use a previously published piece of content
  2. Please include the #NotEverythingIsBW badge at the bottom
  3. Please send me the photo! (if you can make this as high res as possible that would be fab, everybody loves a crystal clear photo)
  4. A short description of your blog and social media links
  5. Your site logo
  6. Tweet the post and include @MumProject and #NotEverythingIsBW : )

I’m going to be tweeting/sharing the post through all of my social channels and publishing your post every Tuesday. I will also link the guest post to various linkies!

Please submit your post and/or images

  2. Such beautiful photos. I have some beautiful picture with my baby when he was little which make me smile looking back, but at the time I was actually crippled by postnatal depression. #globalblogging

  3. What a great idea! I love the sentiment behind this. The first picture of me, Adrian and the Popple is in black and white – that might be a good one for this series. Will have a poke around my photos to see what else I’ve got. #GlobalBlogging

  5. Oh this is a great idea, I’ll be rummaging through my phone for just the right picture! Does it have to have a post too or can I just send the picture to you with a description? xx

  6. Oh and forgot to say, I can completely relate to the “not always feeling what you should” in the moment, and then you take a photo and think, that so doesn’t reflect all the ‘drama’, but then somehow the photo can for me make things good again, I look at it and think ” you know what, yes I’m having an off-day, but I’ve got this gorgeous baby and everything is going to be just fine” xx #globalblogging

  7. This is a gorgeous photo, it’s true, they never tell the whole story. I will try and join in if I get a mo. Your bio made me laugh! Thank you so much for being a part of the #bigpinklink it’s great to have you with us!

  8. Ah I too LOVE b&w photography, there’s something really elegant and powerful when colour is stripped away, of course colour is fantastic too! #globalblogging Thanks for hosting a fabulous linky!

  9. How can you not melt at those photos? Even with sore boobs. So gorgeous. As well as being infinitely more stylish black and white pics just deliver so much more atmospherically don’t they? Great idea for a new guest series will have a dig around. #globalblogging

  12. I’m a big fan of black and white photos, I think a mood can be captured beautifully in it. Unfortunately I’m no photographer, but definitely have a couple of my black and white favourites.
